Wilmette’s St. Augustine’s Church Welcomes New Minister
The former associate rector at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Lake Forest will preside at her first service on Sept. 9.

Wilmette’s is inviting the community to welcome Reverend Kristin White to the area.
Rev. White will preside at her first service on Sunday, September 9 at 9:30 AM. Following the service, at around 10:30 a.m., there will be a reception for her and her family, husband John and daughter Grace.

A native of Oregon, Rev. White taught high school English for 10 years in Salem, Ore. She came to Illinois in 2006 when she enrolled at Seabury-Western Seminary in Evanston.
For the past five years Rev. White has been affiliated with Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Lake Forest, first, as her field placement while in seminary, then as Associate Rector. She was instrumental in developing the Spiritual Life Renewal Survey for the Episcopal Church.

Rev. White has a particular love for youth and newcomer ministries. She coordinated a sister-church relationship between Holy Spirit and a Hispanic parish in Waukegan.
“[We] were most impressed with Kristin’s track record in her current ministry including her collegial leadership style, her work in exploring spiritual life, her organizational abilities, her understanding of the challenges facing the church and her warm and gracious personality,” St. Augustine’s govern body said in a statement.
St. Augustine’s Church has been active in Wilmette since it began in 1893. Its current structure was built in 1943. In 1981, it became the first parish in the diocese to call a woman priest as an Assistant Rector.
St Augustine’s has a long tradition of service within the community and to the broader world. On weekdays, Rose Hall Montessori School offers educational programs for young children. Groups who meet regularly at St A’s include Al-Anon, the North Shore Harmonizers, and the Dulcimer Society of Northern Illinois. Many will recognize the church as the site of its colorful annual front lawn Plant Sale.
