NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
PHONE SCAMMER
An Indian Hill Road resident reported on July 21 that they had been scammed out of money by someone who called on the phone purporting to be a representative of a bank's fraud department.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Linden Avenue resident reported around 5:30 p.m. on July 10 that someone had used his personal information to open up unauthorized Nordstrom and AT&T accounts.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Gregory Avenue resident reported on July 12 that he apparently lost his wallet while shopping in Northbrook. Someone found the wallet and the resident's credit cards were used to make unauthorized purchases in Palatine and Niles.
FRAUD
An employee of Tsing Tao Mandarin Chinese Restaurant, 537 Green Bay Road, reported that someone had altered $284.90 check written to the business' waste management company on June 25. Officers reported the payment amount had been changed to $9,081.94 at some point before the bank cleared the check.

COUNTERFEIT ATTEMPT
Someone tried to buy a frozen pizza at Lou Malnati's, 3223 Lake Ave., with a $100 bill around 7:50 p.m. on July 7, but when an employee started to inspect the bill, the person took it back.
SIGN THEFT
Someone stole two stop signs from the parking lot at Gillson Beach House, 101 Lake Ave., at some point after the beach closed on July 8 and before 8 a.m. on July 9.
SHOPLIFTING
Staff at Walgreens reported there were two shoplifting incidents on July 23. In the first instance, two female thieves stole unspecified items around 4:30 p.m. In the second instance, one male thief stole a single unspecified item around 6:15 p.m.
PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package from a front porch in the 800 block of 16th Street at some point on July 15.
SUITCASE THEFT
A resident in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue reported on July 16 that someone had stolen a suitcase from the front of their home.
STOLEN CARS
- Someone stole VW Touareg after it was apparently left unlocked with a key inside in the 600 block of 8th Street, north of Greenleaf Avenue, prior to about 1:30 p.m. on July 10.
- After a key was left inside an unlocked Audi S5 convertible parked in the 400 block of Maple Avenue after 10 p.m. on July 12, someone stole it less than three hours later.
- Someone stole a Ford Edge that was left unlocked in the 900 block of Forest Avenue between 8:30 p.m. on July 8 and 5:30 a.m. on July 9.
- Someone stole a Honda Odyssey that was left unlocked with a key inside in the 1700 block of Central Avenue between 9:30 p.m. on July 13 and 7:45 a.m. on July 14.
- Someone stole an unlocked Land Rover with a key left inside while parked in a driveway in the 700 block of of Forest Avenue at some point between 10:30 p.m. July 13 and 6:30 a.m. July 14.
- Someone stole a Mercedes-Benz GL350 from the parking lot of the Westmoreland Country Club, 2601 Old Glenview Road, between 5:30 and 10:20 p.m. on July 27 after it was left unlocked with the keys inside.
- Someone stole a Toyota Rav4 that had been left unlocked with the key inside in the 2200 block of Birchwood Avenue on July 22 and July 23. It was recovered on July 23 in the 3400 block of West Sunnyside Avenue in Chicago.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone smashed a rear passenger window of a car parked in the southwest corner of the parking lot at Centennial Park, 2300 Old Glenview Road, between 5 p.m. July 9 and 11 a.m. July 10, and stole a beige bag containing tennis rackets and beach passes from inside.
- Around 4 a.m. on July 15, a resident reported unidentified men or boys had set off a car alarm behind a building in the 500 block of Ridge Road. The group left in two other cars before officers arrived without breaking into any cars. Police later learned one of had been stolen from somewhere else.
- Someone got into a Hyundai that had been left unlocked in the 400 block of Prairie Avenue between July 14 and July 15 but nothing was stolen from inside.
- Someone stole electronics from inside a VW Atlas that was parked in the 1400 block of Ashland Avenue between July 24 and July 25.
THEFTS FROM VEHICLES
- Someone stole the BMW emblem from a car parked at the Metra station, 722 Green Bay Road, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on June 30.
- Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Lexus parked in the 3200 block of Old Glenview Road between 5 p.m. July 19 and 11 a.m. July 20.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- A resident reported noticing graffiti on a mailbox at 13th Street and Forest Avenue, a ComEd utility box at Michigan and Elmwood avenues and a garbage can at the entrance to Elmwood Dunes prior to July 9.
- Graffiti was reported on various signs adjacent to Canal Shores Golf Course in the 200 block of Linden Avenue on July 15. It was estimated to be less than $500 in damage.
- On July 15, graffiti was reported on the Musical Theater Works building, 516 4th St., that was also estimated to cost less than $500 to repair.
- Someone smashed a cement address block in the 1100 block of Hibbard Road on or before July 26.
- At some point on July 25 or July 26, someone got into a Wilmette Park District bus and discharged a fire extinguisher, which caused $600 in damage.
- A resident in the 100 block of Maple Avenue reported on July 28 that the driver of a red Toyota Camry with Florida plates had slashed the front tire of his car.
- Someone slashed the tires of a Toyota Camry parked in the 1200 block of Cleveland Street between July 21 and July 22, police were told on July 25.
BIKE THEFTS
- Someone stole a green Giant Escape bike that had been locked to the Metra racks between 7:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on July 12.
- Someone stole a black 6KU bicycle that had been locked at the Metra bike racks between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
- A Schwinn that was left unlocked at the bike rack at the Wilmette Harbor Club, 20 Harbor Drive, was stolen between 8 p.m. July 9 and whenever its owner returned the following day.
- Someone stole a green Trek mountain bike and a blue Schwinn after they were left unlocked at the Gillson Beach House, 700 Michigan Ave., between 4 and 8:30 p.m. on July 19.
- Someone stole an unlocked green Trek bike worth $350 that had been left at the rack at Gillson Sailing Beach, 101 Lake Ave., between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on July 26.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Rachel A. Kost, 25, of the 800 block of Gosselin Circle, Batavia, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on July 13 after officers were called to the Jewel-Osco, 411 Green Bay Road, for a report of a possibly intoxicated woman arguing with staff. Officers encountered Kost as she was backing out of a parking spot in the Jewel lot and took her into custody after field sobriety testing suggested she was intoxicated. Officers reported she was unable to provide sufficient breath samples and charged with one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol.
Neil R. Kitchie, 61, of the 800 block of Greenwood Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on July 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers showed up at the scene of a traffic crash involving an Audi SUV in the 900 block of Manor Drive. Police said Kitchie was at fault in the crash, showed signs of impairment and refused to provide a breath sample. He was also issued a citation for unsafe backing.
Rayshakia S. Adams, 37, of the 2400 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 11 p.m. on July 24 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop for expired plates in the 2400 block of Lake Avenue. Police reported smelling burnt cannabis and noticed an open contained of alcohol. Adams reportedly failed field sobriety testing and was taken into custody. She was also issued citations for no valid insurance, expired registration and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
Deselorice Roseman, 42, and Dajuen Roseman, 19, of the 900 block of East 84th Street, Chicago, Rayvon Range, 18, of the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue, and a 16-year-old child, were all arrested on July 25 after police were called to the 600 block of Lamon Avenue for a report of people shining a flashlight in a silver Hyundai. Police took three people into custody in the 700 block of Laporte Avenue and found they had property that had been taken from vehicles nearby. Police also stopped a Nissan Sentra that had been circling the area, and took two female occupants into custody. Deselorice Roseman was charged with with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Dajuen Roseman was charged with theft from a motor vehicle. The 16-year-old was petitioned delinquent for burglary to a motor vehicle. Range was charged with theft from a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Badean Vichaikul, 33, of the 3500 block of Merle Lane, Northbrook, was arrested around 11 p.m. on July 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis after police pulled him over near Lake Avenue and Wagner Road, determined he was impaired and found he was carrying a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. Police also issued him a speeding ticket.

INCIDENTS
BICYCLE THEFT
Someone stole a child's unlocked, $500 bicycle after it was left unlocked at the rack at Kenilworth Beach between 9:30 a.m. July 27 and 9:30 a.m. July 28.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A Vernon Avenue resident reported that they had received an email notifying them that their computer had been hacked and demanding a $4,000 payment for assistance. The resident realized it was a scam and cut off contact with the scammer.
SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole a $90 bottle of liquor from the Binny's Beverage Depot, 85 Old Green Bay Road, on July 18, management informed police on July 26.
STOLEN FLAGS
- Someone stole American flag from three homes in the 700 block of Sycamore Lane on or before July 28. One of the residents valued their flag at $100.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Elm Ridge Drive reported on Aug. 2 that someone had stolen a $35 American flag and pole from their property during the previous week. The resident reported social media posts indicated that similar flag thefts have taken place in other nearby communities.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Rockgate Lane resident reported on July 13 that someone had tried to transfer money overseas from their bank account. The resident's bank blocked the transaction, so no money was transferred.
- An Old Green Bay Road resident reported their identity was stolen on July 22 after a previous employer noticed that someone had tried to change the bank routing information for a retirement account. The fraudster failed when the former boss recognized the attempt.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
- A Terrace Court resident reported on July 13 that someone had contacted their employer and asked to change their banking information for the direct deposit of their paycheck. The scammer was unsuccessful.
- A Grove Street resident was scammed into buying $800 worth of gift cards by an email that purported to have come from someone familiar to the resident. By the time the resident became suspicious, the scammer had already redeemed all of the cards.
ARRESTS
Simon Sehter, 24, of the 700 block of Alice Drive, Northbrook, was arrested around 3:45 a.m. on July 17 following a traffic stop on Dundee Road near Skokie Ridge Drive. Officers reported they found he had more than 160 grams of cannabis and charged him with unlawful possession of cannabis and driving with a revoked license. Sehter was also cited for driving with a suspended registration.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
A resident in the 1700 block of Northfield Square reported around 1 p.m. on July 11 that someone had stolen the catalytic converter from their parked car between 1 and 11 a.m. that day.
SHOPLIFTING
The manager at Walgreens, 1825 Willow Road, reported around 2 p.m. on July 11 that a man and woman had walked into the store and stole "numerous items and alcohol" of unknown value before driving away.
LOITERING
Police were called to the 500 block of Sunset Road for a report that a man was loitering behind Sunset Ridge School. Officers found the man, who explained he was staying in the area and asked for help with transportation, which police provided.
SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALLS
An employee at Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road, called police on the afternoon of July 30 to ask for advice about a phone call from a former employee. Police spoke to the employee and the caller, conveying the management's request that the ex-staffer have no further contact with the business.
STOLEN CARS
- Officers were called to an abandoned car that had been left in the 200 block of Dickens Street. Police found the vehicle had been recently stolen from Chicago and heavily damaged.
- A resident in the 200 block of Dickens Street reported at 11 a.m. that someone had stolen their car around 4:30 a.m., recovered later that day and returned. Police did not specify whether the resident left the car unlocked with a key inside.
- An employee of the Fields BMW dealership at 700 W. Frontage Road reported around 11:30 a.m. on July 13 that an unidentified man had stolen a car while waiting in a car wash lane. Police tracked the car using a GPS beacon and found it abandoned in a nearby town.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Winnetka Road resident reported on July 14 that someone had recently tried to open up numerous unauthorized credit accounts using their name.
- A Winnetka Road resident reported on July 19 that someone had used their identity in an attempt to file a fraudulent IRS tax return. The IRS denied the attempt.
ARRESTS
An 18-year-old Winnetka man was arrested around 9:45 p.m. on July 11 and issued citations for possession of cannabis and failure to yield while turning left following a traffic stop near Hibbard Road and Lindenwood Drive.

INCIDENTS
CAR THEFT
Someone stole an Toyota Corolla that had been left unlocked in a driveway in the 1100 block of Ash Street between 8 p.m. July 13 and 3:44 a.m. July 15. The car was found by Buffalo Grove police on Aug. 2 with damage to its front and rear passenger side bumpers and its passenger mirror, police said. As of a few days after its recovery, there was no information available about it having been used in other crimes.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business at 552 Lincoln Ave. reported on July 21 that someone had stolen $174 worth of merchandise between 11 a.m. and noon on July 19.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- An El Dorado Street resident reported on July 18 that someone had used their identity four days earlier to make an unauthorized $5 purchase using their American Express credit card.
- A Merrill Street resident reported on July 17 that, at some point between June 26 and July 13, someone had started mail forwarding from their current home to another address without authorization.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone got into an unlocked car parked in the 900 block of Ash Street between 5 p.m. on July 11 and 8:45 a.m. on July 12 but nothing was stolen from inside.
- Someone got into a pair of unlocked cars parked in a driveway in the 1100 block of Oak Street between midnight and 8 a.m. on July 15, but nothing was reported stolen from within.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Antonio Marin Morales, 25, of the 1200 block of South 48th Street, Chicago, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. on July 10 in the 400 block of Sheridan Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following an encounter with officers who also cited him for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
Sonio D. Ferraraccio, 44, of the 200 block of South Cleveland Avenue in Deforest, Wisconsin, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on July 12 in the 800 block of Elm Street and charged with domestic battery following an investigation into a report of battery.
Larry Scott, 66, of the 7600 block of South Steward Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 7 a.m. on July 17 near the intersection of Scott and Vernon avenues and charged with theft following an investigation into a report of a stolen package.
