3rd Fatality in Wisconsin Canoe Accident ID'd; Search Continues
Search and recovery efforts were under way Tuesday as authorities try to find fourth friend who died on the icy lake.
Authorities on Tuesday identified the third North Shore man whose body was pulled from an icy lake in southern Wisconsin. Mori Weinstein, 21, was one of four friends who went out on a canoe on Mill Lake early Sunday morning after a night of drinking.
The bodies of Christopher McQuillen and Lanny Patrick, both of Winnetka, were recovered earlier. A search continues for the fourth young man. All four became friends as classmates at New Trier High School.
They were spending part of their winter break from college at a reunion on the lake.
Weinstein’s roommate at the University of Kansas spoke to the Chicago Tribune Tuesday.
“He was sound-minded and level headed,” Cam Kyle told the Tribune. “Not a crazy college kid. He liked to have fun, was incredibly outspoken, gentlemanly and you could always lean on him.”
