'Captain Underpants' Creator Coming to Winnetka
The author of the insanely popular children's series is headed to The Bookstall in Winnetka next week.

Dav Pilkey, author of the insanely popular children’s series, Captain Underpants, will make a special appearance in Winnetka on Tuesday to promote his new book.
The Bookstall at Chestnut Court, located at 811 Elm Street, will play host to Pilkey’s book signing starting at 4:30 p.m. Area Captain Underpants enthusiasts can pick up a copy of his new book, “Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers,” to be signed at the local bookstore.
"When I was a kid making silly books out in the hall, I never dreamed that one day I'd be making silly books for a living,” Pilkey said. “The coolest thing is that I used to get in trouble for being the class clown... and now it's my job!"

"You may want to wear underpants on your head to this event. You know, just because."
There are just a few ground rules for the Winnetka book signing, so anyone wanting to attend should remember the following:
- In order to get a line number, customers must purchase at least one Captain Underpants book from The Book Stall. Store employees will give line numbers out with purchase starting on August 28th, the date when “Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers” is released.
- Because of the large crowd expected, Mr. Pilkey will only sign two books per customer. He will not sign dolls, posters, or other memorabilia, just books.
- Photographs are allowed, but in the interest of time, customers may not pose individually with Dav. A staff member will be on hand to take photos for customers as they meet Dav and get their books signed.
- You may want to wear underpants on your head to this event. You know, just because.
According to the Amazon book description, “the Captain is back!”

“In this ninth epic novel, Dav Pilkey takes readers back in time to the carefree days of kindergarten, when the worst thing George and Harold had to face was NOT evil mad scientists or alien cafeteria ladies but a sixth-grade bully named Kipper Krupp, the nephew of their clueless school principal,” reads the book's description on Amazon. “And because George and Harold don't actually invent Captain Underpants until fourth grade, the two clever kindergartners are on their own -- using their brains to beat the bully.”
