Fraudulent $5K Check Cashed: Winnetka, Glencoe Crime Blotters

WINNETKA-GLENCOE, IL — The following is the most recent crime blotter from the Winnetka Police Department and Glencoe Public Safety Department.

Winnetka

IDENTITY THEFT

  • Aggravated - Dec. 15 at 12:48 p.m.
    • A victim reported that an unknown person used their personal information to open a Wells Fargo Premier Checking Account between Nov. 30 and Dec. 12. No loss was reported.
  • Aggravated - Dec. 17 at 11:24 a.m
    • A victim discovered that an unknown person wrote and cashed a fraudulent check from their bank account in the amount of $5,000 sometime between Dec. 9 and 16.
  • Attempt - Dec. 19 at 11:03 a.m
    • A resident reported to police that someone attempted to open a Connexus credit union account and an Old Second National Bank account using their personal information. No loss was reported.

THEFT

  • Residential - Dec. 16 at 10:56 a.m.
    • A resident reported to police that somebody removed their clothing from a communal laundry room. The estimated loss is approximately $140.

ARRESTS

  • Traffic - Dec. 17 at 11:40 p.m.
    • A 34-year-old Chicago woman was arrested for driving without a valid driver's license. She was also cited for driving without a rear registration plate, operating an uninsured vehicle and having her registration suspended due to not having insurance.

  • Vehicle - Dec. 18 at 3:47 a.m.
    • A victim discovered that an unknown person entered their 2016 Hyundai Veloster, but nothing inside was taken.

Glencoe

ARRESTS

  • Warrant - Dec. 11
    • Officers arrested a 31-year-old Grayslake man on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop at Dundee Road and Edens Expressway.
  • Traffic - Dec. 13
    • Police arrested a 36-year-old Chicago man following a traffic stop. He was cited with driving without a license and making an improper turn at an intersection.
