  • Where: , Merril St & Green Bay Rd, Winnetka
  • Why Go?: Mr. Myers blends the tropical sounds of calypso and ska, the rhythms of reggae and a little rock-n-roll with some favorite classic tunes to create their own special style of music - Caribbean Rock. Mr. Myers’ unique combination of musical styles may be difficult to define and perhaps challenging to play, but it never fails to entertain audiences everywhere, young and old. Their cleverly arranged cover tunes and energetic original songs get audiences on their feet in no time. It’s no wonder that Mr. Myers continues to set new attendance records everywhere they play.

  • Why Go?: Groups of Ascension volunteers, friends and neighbors work one Saturday each month with Habitat for Humanity in Lake County June through November. They help build decent, affordable homes for families in need while empowering those families to help themselves. This year we begin on Sat. June 16 and will meet to work the 3rd Sat. of each month through November. The group will leave from the Ascension’s parking lot at 7a.m. to go to the work site, stopping along the way for coffee and donuts. New sites have been obtained in Waukegan and Zion, where new construction and gut rehab will be done. Habitat has initiated a new program, "Brush with Kindness" which is designed for exterior maintenance to enhance curb appeal in blighted neighborhoods.  Sign up to join a work crew by calling the church office at 847-446-8335.
