Glencoe Residents Overwhelmingly Want Food and Beverage Improvements

An exercise as part of the Glencoe 'tune-up' shows that to be the main priority for residents, followed by recreation.

“Downtown Glencoe would be better if _________.”

That’s the question Glencoe residents were asked on “ideas chalkboards” that were stationed at Wyman Green for seven weeks.

The responses were overwhelmingly in favor of improvements to the village’s food and beverage scene. Forty percent, or 228, of the responses were in that category. Recreation was the next largest category, garnering 16 percent of responses, meaning 95 people wrote in for that category. Shopping, infrastructure and traffic control were the next three most popular.

Within the food and beverage category there was a clear winner: ice cream/frozen yogurt/gelato was favored by 56 percent of people. More restaurants came in next with 40 percent and bar/pub was third with 28 percent.

The chalkboard project may be done, but the village is still encouraging input. You can read more about how you can participate at the Glencoe Downtown Tune-Up website.
