Go Green Winnetka Hosts Native Plant Sale
Get every from Prairie Dropseed to Prairie Milkweed at Saturday's sale at Indian Hill Park.
WINNETKA, IL — A lot is going on in Winnetka and Glencoe this weekend: there’s an outdoor art show, a big concert, and a 9/11 memorial service. But if you’re still looking for something to do, how about some Purple Cornflower, or Brown Fox Sedge?
Go Green Winnetka, an environmental nonprofit, is sponsoring a native plant sale from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Indian Hill Park on 131 Wilson Street in Winnetka. 53 species of plants native to the North Shore will be on sale. The sale will be in-person, with no pre-orders available.
According to Go Green, native plants “provide habitat for the insects, birds, and pollinators that are integral to our ecosystem.” Native plants are also important to effective stormwater management due to their extensive root system that prevents erosion and provides extra filtration.

The sale is an “outgrowth” – no pun intended – of Go Green Wilmette’s seventh annual native plant sale in May 2021. Saturday will mark Winnetka’s first fall native plant sale. Click on the link above for a full list of native plants for sale.
