Shooting Cancels 4th Of July Fireworks In Winnetka, Glencoe Parade
Following a mass shooting in Highland Park, all activities scheduled for Monday afternoon and night have been canceled.
UPDATE: Due to a mass shooting in Highland Park Monday, all 4th of July related activities in Winnetka and Glencoe have been canceled.
The Village of Winnetka said in a post on its website:
"Out of respect for the victims of the shooting in Highland Park earlier today, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our community, tonight’s fireworks at Duke Childs Field have been cancelled. The Park District and the Village carefully planned the parade, the events on the Green, and the fireworks, and looked forward to celebrating with you. We are heartbroken the celebration of our country’s founding has been cut short by a violent act in our neighboring community. It is our hope you are able to celebrate the remainder of Independence Day with your families and loved ones. Our thoughts are with our friends and neighbors in Highland Park and all who have been impacted by this tragedy."
