Lakefront Burglary Aborted As Resident Returns Home, Glencoe Cops Say
A burglary crew fled in a black Chevy Tahoe, and Glencoe detectives are looking for any video footage that may have captured the incident.

GLENCOE, IL — Village public safety officials asked the public for help with an investigation into an attempted home burglary.
A resident returned home around 12:30 p.m. Monday to find three masked men trying to break in to their home on Lakewood Drive, authorities said.
The trio were on the west side the house on the one-block lakefront street north of Glencoe Beach, according to a statement from the Glencoe Public Safety Department.

Once they spotted the resident, members of the burglary crew reportedly got into a black Chevy Tahoe and fled west on Lakewood Drive onto Sheridan Road.
"Any further information is currently unavailable as the investigation is [ongoing]," it said.

Anyone with any video footage of the incident was encouraged to call Glencoe Public Safety Department Det. Fil Marino at 847-461-1133.
North Shore villages also operate license plate reader cameras in the area that are likely to have captured pictures of the burglars' SUV.
When villagers return home to find their home burglarized, Glencoe public safety officials said in a statement that residents should not go inside but instead call 911.
"Do not touch anything," it said, "and pay attention to your surroundings for suspicious people or vehicles."
