NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
A Greenleaf Avenue resident reported on Aug. 3 that someone sent them a text message containing a confirmation code and a link after they posted flyers about a missing cat around town.
IDENTITY THEFTS

- A Washington Avenue resident reported on Aug 4 that someone had used 158,000 of their American Airlines miles without authorization for an estimated loss of about $4,600.
- A Fairfield Road resident reported on Aug. 11 that they had received a letter from the Mandarich Law Group regarding an unpaid Home Depot credit card charge of nearly $5,900. The resident had never opened such an account.
BANK SCAMS
- A Grove Street resident reported on Aug. 10 that someone called claiming to be a representative of Chase Bank and told the resident that they needed to authorize a "time-sensitive" wire transfer of $4,200 because of a purportedly fraudulent charge.
- An Edgebrook Lane resident reported on Aug. 11 that they had been scammed out of $660 after getting a purported Chase Bank fraud alert. The scammer asked the resident for confirmation of a purchase, and when the resident said they never made such a purchase, they were scammed into clicking a fake link that reset their password.
ARRESTS
Angel Havlik, 22, of the 1300 block of East Knapp Place, Milwaukee, was arrested on Aug. 3 and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving without a valid license following a traffic stop around Sheridan Road and South Avenue. Police also ticketed her for speeding.

Shuet Ngan Wong Chan, 70, of the 400 block of Green Bay Road, Glencoe, was arrested and charged with theft on Aug. 21 in connection with an unspecified incident.
Mark Olenek, 30, of the 100 block of Green Bay Road, Glencoe, was arrested at some point on Aug. 22 and charged with domestic battery.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
CYCLIST ATTACKED
On the afternoon of Aug. 1, a cyclist reported they were struck with unidentified projectiles in the 300 block of Sheridan Road around 9:30 p.m. on July 31.
TRESPASSING
An employee at Lloyd Beach reported that someone took a golf cart from the boat house at 799 Sheridan Road and returned it between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 8.
SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole $168 worth of merchandise from Valentina, 538 Chestnut St., at some point prior to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 12.
DEFACEMENT WITH DEFECATION
Around 9 a.m. on Aug. 20, police were notified that someone had used paint and feces to vandalize the bathroom at the Hubbard Woods train station, 1065 Gage Street.
SCAMS
- A scammer claiming to be a representative of Xfinity convinced a Scott Avenue resident to purchase $630 worth of gift cards between Aug. 7 and Aug. 9.
- A scammer claiming to be a representative of Enterprise Rent-A-Car convinced a Provident Avenue resident to buy $370 worth of gift cards on Aug. 18 and provide the card information.
STOLEN CARS
- Someone stole an unlocked Acura from a driveway in the 100 block of Myrtle Street around 3:45 a.m. on Aug. 14. Someone had also gotten into an unlocked Audi at the same address but nothing was reported missing.
- Someone stole an Acura from the driveway of a home in the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue between 8 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 8 p.m. on Aug. 19. Police were told it was locked at the time.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- Someone caused $1,500 in damage to the light posts on a driveway in the 900 block of Hill Road between 11 p.m. July 31 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 1.
- At some point between 1 p.m. on July 29 and 11 a.m. on Aug. 2, someone caused $150 in damage to landscaping lights in the first block of Locust Road.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Winnetka Avenue resident reported that someone used their identity to make an unauthorized transfer of $1,800 worth of Air Canada points between July 5 and July 30.
- A Sunset Road resident reported on Aug. 2 that someone had used their identity to apply for an American Express card on July 23.
- A Fuller Lane resident reported on Aug. 7 that someone had used their identity to open a Bank of America credit card on July 26.
- A Sheridan Road resident reported on Aug. 14 that someone had used their identity to use their American Airline miles on July 3 or July 4 for an unspecified loss in excess of $5,000.
- An Oak Street resident reported on Aug. 4 that someone had used their identity to make an unauthorized $1,100 purchase using their Citibank credit card.
- A Chatfield Road resident reported on Aug. 17 that someone had used their identity to make an unauthorized transaction from their checking account for an unspecified loss in excess of $5,000.
CHECK FRAUD
- A De Windt Road resident reported on Aug. 4 that someone had intercepted a check in the mail, altered it and cashed it some time after July 10 for an unspecified loss in excess of $5,000.
- A Green Bay Road resident reported on Aug. 8 that someone had intercepted a check in the mail, altered it and cashed it some time after July 9 for an unspecified loss in excess of $5,000.
- An Asbury Avenue resident reported on June 30 that someone had intercepted, altered and cashed a check in the mail for a loss of $3,000.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone burglarized an unlocked BMW parked in the lot of the Grand Food Center, 606 Green Bay Road around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, but nothing was reported stolen from inside.
- Someone got into an unlocked Land Rover and Nissan in a garage in the first block of Essex Road around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 14 and stole about $20 worth of cash from inside.
- Someone got into an unlocked Mercedes-Benz parked in the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Elm Street but nothing was reported stolen from inside.
ARRESTS
Adam S. Lindstrom, 49, of the 5000 block of North Mango Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 2 p.m. on July 31 following an investigation into a crash in the 800 block of Hibbard Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. Police also issued him citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and violation of license classification.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
A resident of the 700 block of North Happ Road reported around 2 p.m. on July 31 that someone had burglarized their car, stealing a backpack and laptop from inside. The car had been left unlocked while parted around several unspecified locations around the North Shore, police were told.
SHOPLIFTING
An employee of the Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road, reported around 9 p.m. on July 31 that a pair of shoplifters had recently stolen about $189 worth of alcohol from the store. Police were able to identify the male and female thieves, management agreed not to press charges as long as they payed restitution and the shoplifters agreed.
SCAM
A Bristol Road resident reported around 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 3 that someone claiming to be an Apple employee had contacted them and convinced them to send about $25,000 worth of gift card and Bitcoin, purportedly to remove computer viruses.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 1700 block of Northfield Square at some point in the "past couple of weeks" prior to Aug. 9 by forcing open a rear sliding patio door.
SIDESHOW
Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 13, police spotted a motorist driving recklessly in the parking lot of the Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road. A large crowd of onlookers had gathered to watch and record a car doing donuts. When police tried to stop them, the driver turned off the lights and sped away from police onto the expressway.
SHOPLIFTING
Management at the Walgreens, 1825 Willow Road, reported around 6 p.m. on Aug. 17 that an unidentified male and female thief had recently stolen an unknown amount of cosmetics by hiding them in a bag.

GARAGE BURGLARIES
- Around 10 a.m. on Aug. 11, a man wearing a beard, baseball hat and a sweater was spotted stealing a bicycle helmet worth less than $100 from an open, attached garage in the 500 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
- At some point between 7 a.m. Aug. 11 and 4 p.m. Aug. 12, someone stole several items from an open garage in the 300 block of Sterling Road were stolen, including a bicycle, headphones and a speaker, which were valued at less than $500.
WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
THEFT FROM PORCH
A resident in the 1600 block of Elmwood Avenue report it on Aug. 14 that somebody had stolen a lacrosse stick a hockey stick a baseball glove and two duffel bags with an unknown value from their front porch.
LOCKER THEFT
Someone stole $250 from the unlocked gym locker at Michigan Shores Club, 911 Michigan Ave., between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 6.
BICYCLE THEFTS
- Someone stole a locked bicycle valued at $500 from the CTA Purple Line station, 349 Linden Ave., on or before July 30.
- Someone stole a bicycle worth $500 between 12:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on July 30 from the CTA Purple Line station at 349 Linden Ave.
- Someone stole a bicycle worth $1,000 from outside of home on the 1400 block of Wilmette Avenue on or before July 31.
- Someone stole a bicycle worth $400, and a helmet worth $200, after they were left at the CTA station, 345 Linden Ave., between 4:45 and 10:30 p.m. on July 31.
- Someone stole a bicycle worth $2,000 from the backyard of a home in the 1100 block of Ridge Road on or before Aug. 12.
- Someone stole a bicycle worth $700 from outside a store in the 1500 block of Sheridan Road on Aug. 12.
- Somebody stole a bicycle with $600 from the front yard of a home in the 600 block of Forest Avenue on or before Aug. 14.
- Somebody stole an unlocked bicycle worth $100 from the from the 1200 block of Wilmette Avenue honor before Aug. 15.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Greenleaf Avenue resident reported on July 28 that somebody had opened up a credit card account using their identity but closed it before making any unauthorized charges.
- A Central Avenue resident reported on Aug. 4 that somebody had used their identity to open up an unauthorized credit card, but the application was denied.
- A Washington Avenue resident reported on July Aug. 7 that somebody had used their identity to take out a loan to buy a Volvo for $80,000.
- A Kilpatrick Avenue resident reported on Aug. 7 that somebody had use their personal information to open up an account with a cellular provider and buy $10,000 worth of merchandise.
- A Central Avenue resident reported on Aug. 15 that they had been notified by a bank and credit card company that somebody had used their identity to apply unsuccessfully for credit cards.
- A Green Bay Road resident reported on Aug. 16 that somebody had used their identity to open up a credit card and make more than $14,000 in purchases.
FRAUD
- A Westmoreland Drive resident reported on Aug. 3 that somebody had used nearly 250,000 of their airline miles to pay for a hotel in Spain.
- A Lamon Avenue resident reported on Aug. 5 that somebody had gain access to their TikTok account and accrued $75 in unauthorized charges.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Somebody stole a flashlight worth $30 from an unlocked Lexus parked in the 700 block of Elmwood Avenue at some point on Aug. 6.
- Someone stole $3 in change from an unlocked Volvo parked in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road on Aug. 6.
ONLINE SCAMS
- A Cornell Street resident reported on Aug. 7 that they had received more than 100 instant messages from a unidentified person directing them to open a link. The resident did click the link and later received an email alert from their bank indicating someone in Texas had unsuccessfully tried to withdraw $500 from their account.
- A Manor Drive resident reported in Aug. 10 that they’ve gotten a message on their computer claiming that their identity has been stolen. When the resident contacted the phone number provided a scammer told them to withdraw $600 and buy bitcoin which they did, it was only when they were directed to repeat the process that the resident realized it was a scam.
GARAGE BURGLARIES
- Someone stole a bicycle, golf clubs, lacrosse track, a down vest, a jacket, a raincoat and a sweatshirt from an attached garage on the 1200 block of Glendenning Road on or before Aug. 12 for a combined loss of About $1,600. $
- A resident at 1600 block of Greenwood Avenue report on Aug. 13 that somebody had stolen a set of golf clubs valued at $1,800 from an attached garage.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- A resident in the 1500 block of Walnut Avenue reported on Aug. 13 that somebody had spray-painted graffiti on their garage door.
- A resident of the 1500 block of Elmwood Avenue reported on Aug. 13 that somebody had spray-painted graffiti on their garage door.
ARRESTS
Andres Gomez, 48, of the 500 block of West Oak Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving with a suspended license and expired registration following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Elmwood Avenue around 10:45 p.m. on July 26. He was also issued citations for disregarding a stop sign, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Xavier Richards, 32, of the 3300 block of Hartzell Street, Wilmette, was arrested on Aug. 2 and charged with burglary after he allegedly stole documents from St. Joseph School, 1740 Lake Ave., and then returned them.
Peter Nelson, 37, of the 1100 block of Central Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested around 5 p.m. on Aug. 5 and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a July 30 incident where witnesses said he was making "shooting motions with his hands."
Catherine Ann Fournier, 70, of the 500 block of Americas Way in Box Elder, South Dakota, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 in the 1000 block of Lake Avenue.
Francisco Ramirez, 41, of the 4600 block of Western Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Aug. 11 and charged with residential burglary after police spotted him with a set of golf clubs that had recently been stolen from a garage in the 2200 block of Schiller Avenue.
Deric J. Bomar, 18, of the 600 block of Linden Avenue, Oak Park, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Green Bay Road. Police reported he failed sobriety tests and was ticketed for speeding.
