National Weather Service Issues Flood Advisory
Look out for pooling water on the roadways and use caution when driving in low-lying areas.
After heavy rainfall and thunderstorms pummeled the Chicago area early this morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issueda flood advisory for Cook County.
In effect until 12:30 p.m., the flood advisory cautions residents to look out for pooling water on highways, underpasses and other low-lying areas.
The NWS has also issued a flash flood warning for Cook County, in effect until 11:30 a.m. During the major storms this morning, rainfall levels reached between 3 to 5 inches, according to the NWS.

More thunderstorms are predicted for this evening, and later tonight, especially after midnight. Those storms could produce torrential downpours, hail and more flash flooding, the NWS reports.
