New Trier Test Scores Decline, Remain Far Above State Average: Report
The percentage of New Trier High School juniors meeting state standards fell by 9 points in English and 6.8 points in math from 2021 to 2022

WINNETKA, IL — Test scores declined in New Trier Township High School District 203 during the 2021-22 school year, newly released data from state education officials shows.
The Illinois State Board of Education on Thursday released its report card for for public school districts across the state, with information about academic performance, teachers, students, administrators and school environment.
The report cards include the last five years of SAT test results, with 2020 excluded due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, 71.2 percent of New Trier High School 11th graders met or exceeded state standards in the SAT's English language arts component, with 69.5 percent achieving that level of performance in the math portion of the test.
That marked a decline from the 2020-21 school year, when over 80.2 percent of New Trier students met or exceeded English proficiency standards and 76.3 percent were above math standards.

Compared to 2022, a higher percentage of students exceeded state standards in each of the four previous years where data is available.
The district still far exceeds state averages. Less than 10 percent of students statewide exceeded English standards, compared to more than 40 percent at New Trier.
And even though the share of NTHS juniors who exceeded math standards declined from 41.7 percent in 2019 to 33.7 percent in 2021 and then to 24.4 percent in 2021, is remains several times higher than the state average of 6.2 percent.
New Trier has fewer administrators per students than the state average, with 214 NTHS students for every administrator, compared to a state average of 147:1.
That makes NTHS an outlier among its North Shore neighbors: Evanston Township High School has one administrator per 119 students, Niles Township high schools have one administrator for ever 90 students — and there is one administrator per every 75 students at Highland Park and Deerfield high schools.
New Trier has one teacher for every 13 students, compared to a state average of 18 student per teacher.
There are 3,846 students enrolled at New Trier, and the district spends a total of $27,429 per student, compared to a state average of $16,029 per student in operational spending.
