New Trier Township Food Pantry Begins SNAP Supplement Bag Distributions
Township Food Pantry clients impacted by the suspension of SNAP may pick up supplementary grocery bags on their "off weeks."

WINNETKA, IL — The New Trier Township Food Pantry will begin distributing supplemental food bags to clients impacted by the recent suspension of federal SNAP benefits.
Beginning Thursday, pantry clients who usually receive SNAP benefits can pick up extra grocery bags on their off weeks full of meat, baked goods, dairy, fresh produce, pantry staples, hygiene items and cleaning products.
The service will be offered until SNAP benefits are restored.

Donations from individual residents, local governments, businesses and civic organizations help made this additional support possible, according to pantry staff.
“We are grateful to live in a community that continually shows up to support one another,” said Supervisor Gail Schnitzer Eisenberg. “These supplemental bags will help bridge the gap for residents who usually rely on the federal SNAP benefits to keep their plates full, but Townships cannot make up for the full loss of federal aid.”
