Northlake Engineering Founder Lloyd Shore Dies at 93

Lloyd G. Shore, age 93, passed away on March 22, 2013.  He was the beloved husband for 69 years to Judith (nee) Kerman; dear father to Sandra (Kevin) Moore, Richard (Suzanne) Shore, Max (Michiyo) Shore; cherished grandfather of David (Alison), Matthew (Jacqui), Molly, Joey, Mark, and Adrien; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Max and Minnie Shore and his sister Thelma (Ira) Marland.

Born in Chicago on May 5, 1919, he attended Senn High School, the University of Illinois, and M.I.T.  After military service during WWII, he worked briefly at Argonne National Laboratory.  Shortly thereafter, he and his best friend, the late Morton (Fran) Whitman, established Central Transformer Co., later renamed Northlake Engineering.  For many years, he volunteered at the North Shore Senior Center helping others complete their medical paperwork.  A music lover throughout his life, in later years he began to play trombone and joined the New Horizons senior band.  Until just recently, he sang with the choir at Congregation Hakafa.  He enjoyed golf, symphony, reading, theater and movies.  An ardent supporter of such causes as the Nuclear Freeze, World Federalists and Peace Now, he believed in the power of our better nature.  He had a warm, genuine and endearing character.  A role model and anchor of the family, he will be greatly missed. 

Service Sunday, 1 PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road (one block north of Lake Cook Road), Buffalo Grove.  Interment Zion Gardens.
