Part of Sheridan Closed Due to Pavement Failure

'Extensive underground damage' was discovered. Repairs should be completed by early next week.

The following is from the Village of Glencoe:

Due to the discovery of a pavement failure at Hazel Avenue and Sheridan Road, Sheridan Road will be closed between Park Avenue and South Avenue effective immediately. A detour will be in place until emergency repairs are completed, which is expected to take place early next week (the week of August 11). The map below outlines the detour route. The detour will use Green Bay Road as an alternate north-south route. All traffic will use Park Avenue, Green Bay Road and South Avenue while the detour is in place. We apologize for any inconvenience this detour may cause and appreciate your patience.

There is extensive underground damage that has undermined the stability of the roadway. After investigation, IDOT and Village crews determined that the safest action would be to close the roadway immediately and initiate the detour route.
