Paver Replacement Contract Approved

The Winnetka Village Council approved the funding of 10 paver crosswalks in town.

The Winnetka Village Council approved the funding of 10 paver crosswalks in Winnetka, according to an article by Winnetka Talk. The replaced crosswalks will be located at the intersections of Elm St. and Lincoln Ave., Green Bay Rd. and Chestnut and Birch Streets. The current paver crosswalks were installed in the 1990s, but are now chipped or missing. Four bids were received. The lowest bid was by Schroeder and Schroeder Concrete Contractors, with a bid of $179.730.

“The early installation of these crosswalks in the 90’s really didn’t pay enough attention to the underneath,” Steve Saunders, village engineer, told Winnetka Talk. “Think of it as a reinforced concrete tray with some drainage facilities. It will provide structural support of the pavers both on the edges and underneath.”
