A recent Northwestern University study shows what car-radio crooners knew all along: Training trumps talent when it comes to singing.

The study, conducted by Steven Demorest, a music education professor at NU, explains that singing is more of a learned skill than a natural talent, according to a Chicago Tribune report. Demorest, who published his findings in the journal Music Perception, looked at the singing accuracy between kindergartners, sixth-graders and college adults, the report stated.
