'We Are Winning': VP Harris Raises Over $670,000 In Glencoe Fundraiser
Vice President Kamala Harris touted the achievements of the Biden administration and Democratic Party at a North Shore fundraising event.

GLENCOE, IL — Vice President Kamala Harris raised more than a half-million dollars for her reelection during a private fundraiser last week on the North Shore.
Harris visited the lakefront home of Karen and Jon Citow Thursday for an event hosted by Invest to Elect, a pro-choice nonprofit based in Glencoe, following a public campaign event earlier in the day in Milwaukee.
"This election is probably one of the most, if not the most important election of our lifetime," Harris said, according to the White House transcript of her remarks.

"I know Invest in [to] Elect and the folks who are leading it and who are part of it have been a part of these elections for almost every cycle in recent memory. And every cycle, we have talked about the critical importance of the presidential election," Harris said. "This one, I absolutely believe, is the most consequential of any we have been involved in in any recent time."
The vice president expressed confidence in the strength of the Democratic Party heading with 173 days to go to Election Day.

Harris touted the administration's record in negotiating drug prices, creating manufacturing jobs and clean energy investments.
"We are winning as an administration. We are winning as a party. Take a look at the midterms. Take a look at the end of last year in those special elections. Did you see what happened in Wisconsin with that court?" she said, noting every time abortion rights have been on the ballot, people voted in favor of them.
"So, we are winning. And I think it’s very important for us to understand that momentum is on our side," Harris told attendees. "While we are so aware of the stakes, let’s know momentum is on our side."
About 120 attendees paid between $1,500 and $50,000 per person to attend the event, which raised more than $670,000 for the Biden Victory Fund, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
In a statement, Glencoe village staff said they made sure that services from their combined fire and police department would remain available during the visit.
"As is our practice, Glencoe Public Safety is proud to demonstrate its professionalism, quality of service, and ability to work in conjunction with outside agencies towards a common goal," staff said. "In this rare occasion, Glencoe has been provided the opportunity to do so on a national level."
Village staff acknowledged the effects of road closures and traffic restrictions associated with the vice president's motorcade.
"Due to security concerns typical for this type of operation, earlier communication regarding travel impacts could not occur," staff said. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciated your patience."
The Biden reelection campaign has recently confirmed that Harris will take part in an in-studio CBS News debate on July 23 or Aug. 13.
Former President Donald Trump said he is likely to announce his pick for as a candidate for vice president at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July 15.
"I don’t say anything is 100%, but you’re getting pretty close,” Trump told WTMJ. “I’ll be doing it in Milwaukee. We’re going to have a great time.”
