Suzanne W. Kenly, nee Warner, age 90 years, born October 24, 1923, passed into Gods’ loving arms August 13, 2014. Loving mother of Margaret F. Kenly (Donald W. Cumming) and Granger F. Kenly Jr. (Carolyn); dearest grandmother of Colin K. Narver, Granger F. Kenly III, Kevin B. Kenly, Tyler W. Kenly and Kyle M. Kenly; dear sister of Dorothy W. Sills; preceded in death by her parents Rawleigh and Dorothy Warner, her dear sister Mary W. Clifford and loving brother Rawleigh Warner Jr.; loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Suzanne was born in Evanston and grew up in Winnetka where she attended Skokie School, North Shore Country Day School, The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York (Class of 1943); married Granger F. Kenly in 1948 and moved to San Francisco, California where her daughter Margaret was born in 1949. She moved back to Winnetka in 1951 where her son Granger F. Kenly Jr was born in 1952. She happily spent the rest of her life in Winnetka immersing herself in countless volunteer and philanthropic activities.
Avid gardener, reader, amateur pilot, volunteer nurse during WW II, golfer, world traveler, lover of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, passionate volunteer who worked tirelessly managing the gift shop at Passavant Memorial Hospital (now Northwestern Memorial Hospital), life-long member of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, Northwestern Settlement House, The Fortnightly Club, Indian Hill Club and cheerleader at all of her grandsons’ sporting events.
