Woman Says Former Hubbard Woods Teacher Abused Her, Too, in 1958

Bill Bricker, former Winnetka teacher and scout leader, is alleged to have molested two boys decades ago. A woman says he abused her, too.

A woman in her 60s has stepped forward to say she was molested by a former Hubbard Woods teacher in 1958 after news broke recently that the teacher was being charged with sexual assault on minors decades ago, according to an article in TribLocal.

Bill Bricker, a former Winnetka teacher and Boy Scout leader, was charged last month after an investigation into accusations of sexual assault against two boys, one in 1963 and one in 1985. Both incidents are alleged to have occurred in Wyoming, where Bricker was working as a camp counselor.

Regarding the more recent allegation, police said they received a report Sept. 29 of a sexual assault by a teacher in 1958. A preliminary investigation concluded that the statue of limitations had expired so the case was closed.

According to TribLocal, a woman who was a student at Hubbard Woods said she was selected by Bricker to be part of a small group of students who were his favorites. This meant that they were encouraged to sit on his lap during recess and at least once he put his hand inside her underwear, the article says.

The District 36 School Board has offered to provide anyone interested with Bricker’s file from his time with the district, where he worked as a physical education teacher from 1949 to 1985.
