Woman's Racist Rant Leads To Ban From Business: Blotter
Argument over off-leash dogs at park preceded punch to the head; pro-Israel sign stolen off of lawn: Winnetka-Glencoe-Northfield Blotters

NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the first block of Harbor Street prior to Feb. 21, prying open a rear door and ransacking several rooms from inside.
SIGN THEFT
Someone stole a "Stand With Israel" sign from the front lawn of a home in the 100 block of Linden Avenue on or before Feb. 22.

TICKET SCAM
An Adams Avenue resident reported on Feb. 23 that they had sent $1,000 over Zelle to someone purporting to offer Taylor Swift concert tickets for sale. After the suspect asked for more, the resident realized they had been scammed.
DELIVERY THEFT
Someone stole five Target grocery bags delivered to a home in the 300 block of Park Avenue on Feb. 23.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Police alerted to a stolen Dodge by a license plate reader found two male burglars breaking into the Walgreens at 353 Park Ave. When officers showed up, the pair took off running and escaped police after fleeing south on the Edens Expressway. Police reported video footage showed the two burglars were inside the store for about 40 seconds and were unable to steal anything from inside.
FLEEING POLICE
Around 3 a.m. on March 17, police spotted a Kia, Hyundai and Lexis stopped in the road at Greenwood and Park avenues with five people wearing facemasks outside. The group got into the cars and fled when an officer drew near. Police later learned the Kia had been stolen from Highland Park earlier that night.
VANDALISM
Someone spray painted a brick wall and several picnic tables on Glencoe Beach, 55 Hazel Ave., at some point prior to March 26.
SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole two bottles of tequila worth about $80 combined from the Binny's Beverage Depot, 84 Green Bay Road, on March 27.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone broke a back window of an Acura SUV parked outside a home in the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue on March 27.
THEFT OF LOST OR UNATTENDED ITEM
Someone took a a black Kate Spade handbag that a person had left at Glencoe Beach, 55 Hazel Ave., on or before April 9.
THEFT
Someone stole two gas-powered leaf blowers and a backpack leaf blowers with a combined value of $3,000 from an unlocked trailer and driveway in the 1100 block of Fairfield Road.
FRAUD
- A Linden Avenue resident on Feb. 26 that someone had made $143 of unauthorized charges on their Fifth Third Bank Mastercard.
- Someone racked up more than $4,100 in unauthorized charges on a Bluff Street resident's Citibank credit card on or before April 5.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- An Old Elm Place resident reported on Feb. 21 that someone had racked up nearly $1,000 in unauthorized charges at Old Navy, as well as unspecified charges the Room Place, Kay Jeweler, Lowe's and other businesses.
- An Elm Place resident reported on Feb. 25 that someone had racked up more than $3,000 in unauthorized charges from Verizon Wireless.
- A Forestway Drive resident reported on March 13 that someone had racked up an unauthorized $120 Verizon Wireless bill.
- A Mary Street resident reported on April 8 that someone opened up unauthorized accounts using their identity.
ARRESTS
George Bozic, 57, of the 1100 block of Old Elm Lane, was arrested on Feb. 26 following a traffic stop in his block of residence and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. He was also cited for improper lane usage.
A 72-year-old Northbrook man was arrested on March 13 and charged with disorderly conduct after someone reported that he followed someone while driving a car.
Julian Pulido, 23, of the 3700 block of Salem Walk, Northbrook, was arrested around 4 a.m. on March 18 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and no valid driver's license following a traffic stop at Pebblewood Lane and Dundee Road. He was also ticketed over an illegal u-turn.
Gregory Dittburner, 34, of the 5200 block of Solomon Court, Gurnee, was arrested on April 5 on a warrant issued by authorities in Georgia.

Moises Padilla, 32, of the 2700 block of West Potomac Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on April 6 on Dundee Road at the Edens Expressway and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and cited for disobeying a stop sign and illegal parking on the roadway.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
BATTERY
Someone threw coffee and punched another person in the head following an argument over dogs off leash in the park at Centennial Park, 225 Sheridan Road, between 8:45 and 9 a.m. on Feb. 26.
THEFT
Someone stole a wallet with $760 in cash from a home in the 1100 block of Ash Street at some point between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28.
TRESPASSING
Police were told that someone had trespassed on private property in the 200 block of Sheridan Road prior to 6:30 p.m. March 2.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1200 block of Westmoor Terrace discovered that a brick pillar had been damaged, causing $750 in losses, between 6 p.m. March 16 and 9:30 a.m. March 17.
HOME REPAIR FRAUD
A resident in the 200 block of Church Road reported on March 19 they paid a deposit for home repair services back in July 2022 and the work was never completed, resulting in a loss of $1,200.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 600 block of Sheridan Road between Jan. 1 and March 21 and stole various items including light fixtures, door and cabinet knobs and window panels, for an undetermined total loss.
GIFT CARD SCAM
An employee of the Wilmette Public Library, 768 Oak St., was tricketed by a scam email impersonating their supervisor. The library staffer was convinced to spend $4,000 buying gift cards and sending in pictures of the redemption codes on the afternon of April 5.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone entered an unlocked Mitsubishi and stole a wallet containing IDs, currency and credit cards, leading to a loss of $260 between 9 and 9:20 a.m. on March 7 in the parking lot of McDonald's, 858 Green Bay Road.
- Someone burglarized an locked Volkswagen parked in a driveway in the 1100 block of Cherry Street and stole $20 in cash between 4 p.m. March 7 and 8:45 a.m. March 8.
- Between 7 p.m. March 7 and 5:45 a.m. March 8, someone burglarized an unlocked Jeep in the 1200 block of Cherry Street.
- Someone stole a briefcase and a laptop, with losses totaling $2,000, from a Mercedes Benz and Kia that were left unlocked in a driveway in the 1300 block of Westmoor Terrace between 10:45 p.m. on March 22 and 9:15 a.m. on March 23.
- Someone burglarized an unlocked Lexus at Lloyd Park, 799 Sheridan Road, and stole more than $5,000 in cash from inside between noon and 1:30 p.m. on March 29.
CHECK FRAUD
- Someone altered checks that were previously mailed by a resident in the 300 block of Provident Avenue between March 7 and March 29 and cashed them, resulting in a $3,000 loss.
- Someone altered a check that had been mailed by a resident in the 900 block of Ash Street for a loss of more than $3,100 at some point prior to March 30.
VANDALISM
- Someone defaced a switchgear in the 1500 block of Edgewood Lane, causing $65 in damage, between Jan. 1 and March 14.
- Someone spray-painted various parts of a pavilion at Hubbard Woods Park, 939 Green Bay Road, between 9:13 and 9:24 a.m. on April 3.
BIKE THEFTS
- Someone stole a locked bicycle from a rack at New Trier High School, 385 Winnetka Ave., for a loss of about $850 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on March 14.
- Someone stole a bicycle worth $200 from after it was left unlocked outside the 7-Eleven, 88 Green Bay Road, between 1 and 1:30 p.m. on March 24.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- Someone used a Sunset Road resident's identity to make unauthorized transactions with American Airlines miles, resulting in a loss of more than $4,200 prior to March 5.
- A Sheridan Road resident discovered on March 14 that someone had used their identity to make more than $1,400 in unauthorized transactions on their AAdvantage account on Jan. 13.
- A White Oak Lane resident discovered that identity had been used to fraudulently open a loan with the U.S. Small Business Administration, with unspecified losses in excess of $5,000. The fraud reportedly occurred on July 1, 2020, but was not discovered until March 20.
- A Hoyt Lane resident reported that someone used their identity to create a business and bill purchases to it between Jan. 28 and March 25, with unspecified losses in excess of $5,000.
- An Ash Street resident reported that unknown offenders used their identity to open multiple credit cards prior to March 27.
ARRESTS
Andres R. Rodriguez, 45, of the 18200 block of Kirby Drive, Tinley Park, was arrested on Feb. 28 and charged with two counts of domestic battery in the first block of Abbottsford Road.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
RACIST CUSTOMER BANNED
A female customer at the Fields BMW, 700 W. Frontage Road, reportedly yelled racist comments to another customer and created a disturbance. When officers arrived they issued her a warning that she was banned from the business and would be charged with trespassing if she returned. The target of her derogatory comments told police no threats were made.
CREEPY CUSTOMER BANNED
Police were called to the Breaking Point Shell, 1855 Willow Road, around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 for a report that a male customer was taking inappropriate photos of female employees. Police detained and questioned him and provided him a criminal trespass warning banning him from the gas station. The employees did not want to press any criminal charges.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
On March 1, an elderly resident of the 500 block of Valley Way reported an aggressive encounter with an intoxicated male neighbor form a few days earlier. The resident chose not to press charges after reportedly being grabbed on the arm but requested a trespass warning for the neighbor.
SCAM ATTEMPT
A resident of the 1800 block of Winnetka Road reported a suspicious call claiming to be from the DEA and requesting personal information on the morning of March 5.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged a car parked during the night of March 9 or morning of March 10 after it was parked in a driveway in the 100 block of Red Barn Lane.
SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Mariano’s grocery store, 1822 Willow Road, reported that three male shoplifters stole a $13 bottle of liquor and ran out of the store.
SUSPICIOUS CHARGES
On the morning of April 4, police began investigating suspicious transactions at the Walgreens in Northfield, 1825 Willow Road, after getting a tip from another police department.
ARRESTS
Jerome P. Glunz, 59, of the 500 block of Voltz Road, was arrested around 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 25 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing into a police squad car at Voltz and Sunset Ridge Road in Northbrook. He was also issued citations for improper turn and improper lane usage.
Stephen R. Blonsky, 47, of the 200 block of Franklin Road, Gurnee, was arrested on March 21 in connection with a March 16 hit-and-run crash near the intersection of Willow Road and Latrobe Avenue. He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
