79 Tickets Issued During Labor Day Patrols In Woodridge

The safety campaign also included two arrests, according to police.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police issued 79 tickets during a safety initiative that coincided with the Labor Day holiday. They also made two arrests during the campaign, which included increased patrols.

The two people who were arrested had been driving suspended licenses, Sgt. Dennis Brinkman told Patch.

The following citations were issued:

  • 30 speeding tickets
  • 19 seatbelt violation tickets
  • 11 distracted driving tickets
  • 10 tickets for miscellaneous violations
  • 7 tickets for driving without insurance
  • 2 tickets for driving with a suspended license

“Through the Labor Day enforcement effort, we helped to make our roads safer and remind motorists that impaired driving is not a game,” Woodridge Police Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.

The initiative, funded partly by the Illinois Department of Transportation, is part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" road safety campaigns.
