Drivers will notice a greater police presence in Woodridge in an effort to crack down on drunk driving as Labor Day approaches.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Drivers will notice increased police patrols in Woodridge in an effort to crack down on drunk and impaired driving as the Labor Day holiday approaches.

"Our first priority is to keep people safe, so we’re asking everyone to plan ahead for a sober ride home if they’ll be drinking or using another impairing substance,” Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson shared in a statement. “Let’s make this a partnership between law enforcement and motorists: Help us protect the community and put an end to the dangers of impaired driving."

The safety campaign kicks off Aug. 18 and will continue into the morning hours of Sept. 5. Police will focus on drunk and impaired driving, in addition to being on the lookout for seatbelt violations, distracted driving incidents and other infractions.
