The local breweries earned a gold and silver medal, respectively.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge's Ike & Oak Brewing Co. and Goldfinger Brewing of Downers Grove both earned medals at the 2025 U.S. Open Beer Championship.
Ike & Oak Brewing earned a gold medal in one of the pastry stout categories for its Kodiak's Revenge Raspberry Pâczki. Introduced in 2022, the barrel-aged pastry stout is 13 percent ABV and its flavor is described as "notes of chocolate and coffee [that] blend with a raspberry donut" on the beer site Untappd.
Goldfinger Brewing's Grodziskie earned a silver medal in one of the championship's historical beer categories. A "smoky, dry, lemon zest, and wheat bread" Polish oak smoked wheat lager, Grodziskie "is an homage to the historical Polish style that features 100% oak smoked wheat malt," per the brewery's website.
