Victim Identified After Drowning In Pond In Woodridge
Authorities have identified a 33-year old man who drowned in Woodridge Sunday.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Authorities have identified a 33-year-old Woodridge man who drowned Sunday in a pond near Windsor Lakes Apartments as Kleyvin Cundapi-Contreras.
Woodridge Police Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson told Patch Monday that the drowning "appears to have been a 'dare gone wrong.'"
Police say Cundapi-Contreras tried to swim across the pond from the southern shore near the apartments in the 1800 block of Fitzgerald, but became submerged while attempting to swim back. Cundapi-Contreras's father had attempted to enter the water to rescue his son, per Stefanson. The father was not injured.
