Man Touches Jogging Teen Days After Woodridge Bike Path Incident
Police detectives ask anyone around Woodridge Dr. and Wild Plum Dr. to check their security systems for video related to this report.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Investigators with the Woodridge Police Department ask anyone around Woodridge Drive and Wild Plum Drive to check their video security systems for video related to an incident involving a teenage girl who was approached and touched by a suspicious man while she was jogging. According to a news release from the police department, police received a report at 5 p.m. Tuesday of a "suspicious incident" in that area.
While jogging on Woodridge Drive, the teen turned onto Wild Plum Drive where a suspicious man with a skateboard came up to her. According to the report, the man left the skateboard in the road as he went up to the teen on the sidewalk, then touched her arm and asked if she wanted a ride. The teen quickly left the area and reported the incident, according to the news release.
The teen describes the person that came up to her as a white man in his late 20s or in his 30s, standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds, with short dark hair, who was possibly wearing jeans and riding a skateboard. According to the news release, the teen believes the man had followed her onto Wild Plum Drive from Woodridge Drive.

According to police, this incident may or may not be related to the recent Oct. 11 case when a man grabbed a woman on the bike path in the 7100 block of Woodridge Drive. Police said in that case, which is still under investigation, the suspect left the area on a bicycle he stashed near the bike path. Woodridge police added that they are actively investigating this incident and are looking for information.

“Please be aware of your surroundings and be vigilant – take a mental note of people in the area that appear to have no agenda,” Woodridge Police Department Chief of Police Brian Cunningham, said. “For example, are they standing around or walking a bike into the woods? While this activity does not necessarily mean they’re engaging in criminal activity, consider if the behavior is ‘normal’ for the area. Situational awareness and providing crime tips can both contribute to a safer community.”
