Police Increase Patrols In Woodridge As New Year's Eve Approaches
More police will be on the road as part of the holiday safety campaign, which begins Dec. 15.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Drivers in Woodridge will notice increased patrols as police ramp up enforcement in the weeks leading up to New Year's Eve.
The safety campaign, which kicks off Dec. 15, will target impaired drivers as part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High, Get A DUI" initiatives.
“If you’ll be celebrating with festive drinks or other impairing substances, make a plan for a safe ride home before you leave for the party,” Woodridge Police Department Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson said in a news release.

Stefanson added, “Driving impaired is simply unacceptable. That’s why we make zero exceptions and arrest all impaired drivers. There are no excuses.”

- Designate a sober driver
- Call a rideshare service or cab company
- Take public transit
- Report unsafe drivers by calling 911
- Do not let friends drive drunk or high
The holiday enforcement campaign runs through Jan. 2.
