Police were called in the Kohls at 1001 75th St. around 3:30 p.m. for a retail theft. Three of the women are accused of going into the store with big bags, which they filled with clothes before leaving without paying and getting into a car. According to police, Gunby was driving the vehicle and another woman was waiting in the car.

When officers got to the scene, they say they saw the car that was linked to the retail theft drive through a stop light at the intersection of Dunham Road and 75th Street.

The police turned on their sirens and lights in an attempt to pull over the car. Gunby is accused of speeding up in an attempt to elude police. After about five minutes, the car's tire blew out and police say Gunby pulled into a gas station, where she and the other women were taken into custody.

“The allegations that these five defendants drove to DuPage County to commit a retail theft in the middle of the afternoon and then attempted to flee authorities, putting the motoring public at risk, will not be tolerated in DuPage County," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin continued, cautioning, "With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, I expect to see an increase in this type of behavior. Thankfully, law enforcement in DuPage County is well-trained to not only respond to such incidents should they occur, but also protect our
retail establishments from would-be thieves."

Woodridge Police Chief Brian Cunningham said, “The suspects allegedly involved in this case showed a total disregard to property and the safety of the community and I'm thankful no one was injured based on their reckless actions."
