Woodridge 4th Of July Picnic 2022 Canceled Due To Lack Of Volunteers
The Woodridge Fourth of July Picnic has been canceled for the third year in a row. This time, officials say it's due to a lack of volunteers
WOODRIDGE, IL — The Woodridge Fourth of July Picnic will not be held in 2022 due to a lack of volunteers, according to a recent update from village officials. Another concern was the unavailability of entertainment this year, the update said.
This marks the third year in a row the popular event at Castaldo Park has been canceled. It was nixed in 2020 and 2021 due to coronavirus.
"After close consultation with Village of Woodridge officials, the Committee regrets to announce the cancelation of this year’s picnic,” Special Events Committee President Joe Kagann said in a statement.

Kagann added, “As a Committee, we take great pride in putting on a first-class event for our Village, which we’ve done since 1969. After careful consideration, however, we did not feel confident that we would have the number of volunteers that are needed to properly staff and operate the community picnic."
Woodridge is still set to host its annual Fourth of July fireworks show at Lemont Road and 75th Street on July 4.
