Woodridge Kohl's a Popular Target for Retail Theft Last Week: Police

Two retail thefts took place within days of each other at the same location.

Two retail thefts were reported within three days of each other last week at a Woodridge Kohl's, both ending in the arrests of women who tried to steal upwards of $1,000 worth of merchandise.

Fran Allen, 52, who's a Downers Grove resident, reportedly tried to steal a variety of items from the 1001 W. 75th St. store around 6:23 p.m. Dec. 17. All of the merchandise totaled $1,089.99, but Allen was caught when she tried to leave the Kohl's without paying.

Three days later, on Dec. 20, Martha Gassman, 51, of Westbound also attempted to steal from the same store, though the dollar amount of what she targeted hasn't been specified by police. Cops said she tried to take several jewelry items around 1 p.m. that day.
