Woodridge Residents Invited to Apply for Citizen Police Academy

The application deadline is Friday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m.

Woodridge is accepting applications over the next two weeks for its Citizen Police Academy, a ten-week session for those interested in learning about local crime and community policing.

The academy, “designed to reduce and prevent crime, as well as maintain partnerships within (the) community,” according to the Village of Woodridge, will begin Jan. 11 with a two-hour session and continue for a few months. The application deadline is Dec. 16.

The course is completely free for citizens, who the village claims will gain a working knowledge of local police practices, policies and procedures as a result of the class. Commitment is minimal — just Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the Woodridge Police Department — and the tenth week will conclude with a dinner and graduation ceremony.
