Woodridge's 2022 Memorial Day Ceremony Planned For May 30

The 2022 Woodridge Memorial Day Parade will step off at 9 a.m. from Fire Station 52.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge's 2022 Memorial Day Parade is set to step off May 30 at 9 a.m. at Fire Station 52, located at the intersection of Woodridge Drive and 75th Street.

The parade, presented by Woodridge VFW Post 1578 and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Department, welcomes all veterans to join marchers as they make their way to Memorial Park to the sounds of a cadence played by the Woodridge School District 68 marching band. Those who want to march in the parade should line up at Fire Station 52 at 8:30 a.m. on Memorial Day.

Color guards will also take part in the parade, which aims to pay tribute to fallen service members. The parade will conclude with a memorial service presented by Woodridge VFW Post 1578.

Woodridge Police Chief Brian Cunningham said, “There are now words that can describe the sacrifice veterans have made for our country. Our appreciation and recognition of their service should be expressed every day.”

To benefit the local VFW, residents can take part in National Poppy Day on May 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on May 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The decorative poppies will be available for purchase at Jewel, 2317 75th St. and Walgreens, 2501 75th St.
