• No horses harmed after fire causes significant damage to horse barn near Woodstock (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A Wednesday afternoon barn fire in unincorporated Woodstock heavily damaged the interior of a small horse barn, but all horses in a nearby pasture were unharmed. Woodstock Fire/Rescue District crews arrived after the owner had already knocked down the flames and found only smoldering remains. No injuries were reported, and the cause is still under investigation by local fire officials.

• Boys cross country: 2025 Northwest Herald All-Area team (shawlocal.com) — Woodstock runners made a strong showing on the Northwest Herald’s 2025 All-Area boys cross country team, led by Woodstock senior Ellery Shutt earning all-state honors again and Woodstock North’s Geo Kopulos receiving honorable mention. Several local athletes excelled at the Woodstock Regional and state meets, underscoring the depth of distance-running talent in and around Woodstock.
