Gun At Raging Waves: Man Charged With Aggravated Assault

Police said the 25-year-old is also charged with violating the Concealed Carry Act at the water park.

YORKVILLE, IL — A 25-year-old man was carrying a concealed gun and threatened another man with it Friday at Raging Waves Waterpark, according to police.

Officers responded to the park in the 4000 block of North Bridge Street just before 4:30 p.m. Friday for a report of a man with a gun concealed on his body inside the business, where guns are prohibited.

Police said the man, identified as Tyronn L. Jones Jr. of the 12000 block of South State Street in Chicago, also made threats with the gun to someone he knew inside the park. In an update issued Saturday afternoon, police said the gun was not pointed at the victim or any member of the public.

Jones was taken into custody without incident, and a handgun was recovered by police.

Jones is charged with aggravated assault and violating the Concealed Carry Act. He was taken to the Kendall County Jail.

Yorkville police thanked the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery Police Department, Oswego Police Department, Plano Police Department, Kendall County Cooperative Police Assistance Team (CPAT) and the Raging Waves staff for assisting in the incident.

In a second news release issued Saturday, police praised Raging Waves for its security measures, adding that the water park employs retired police officers.

"The Staff and Police worked flawlessly together as the individual was removed from the park in a safe manner," police said.
