Male Suspect 'Invited' Teen Into Car Near Yorkville HS: Police

Yorkville police are asking anyone with information in the reported Monday incident to contact them.

YORKVILLE, IL — The Yorkville Police Department is investigating after a teenager told police at 6:15 p.m. Monday that a male driving a gray car approached him by the Yorkville High School tennis courts on Game Farm Road at 5:30 p.m., and asked the teen if he needed a ride, according to a news release from the police department. The teen declined the ride and the driver invited him to get in the car, according to police. The teen then left the area, as well as the suspected car, the release said.

According to police, the male driver of the gray vehicle is described as a bald, bearded white male in his 30s or 40s.

Police said as a precaution there will be extra police presence around area schools.

In the release, police said the department and Yorkville CUSD 115 appreciate the teen for reporting the incident to police, as "providing a safe community for Yorkville students and families is a top priority. "
