Ready, Set, Boogie With Bristol Bay

Elementary school PTO to host fundraiser race Sept. 30.

For the second year in a row, the Bristol Bay Boogie will make its way into Yorkville.

Casual walkers and serious runners are invited to participate in the the PTO event, set for Sunday, Sept. 30. Most of the proceeds from the race will benefit the Bristol Bay PTO. Funds will also be donated to other PTOs.

Participants can choose between the one mile fun run/walk for $15 or a more serious 5K run/walk for $20. Racers also can register at a family rate of $50 for four runners in either race. Those electing to do the one mile run/walk can do so with dogs and strollers.

“We are hoping to have 600-plus this year and to keep expanding every year,” she said.

Burson is looking forward to the event.

“Last year was so much fun — it felt like a party,” she said.

This year’s festivities will include a deejay, food, coffee, water and a silent auction.

“It's a great way to show kids that exercise can be fun,” Burson said. “It's a healthy activity the whole family can do and more serious runners will enjoy, too.”

Many teachers are also participating.

“So its a great place for the (Bristol Bay) kids to see their teachers outside of school,” Burson said.

Those wanting to participate should visit www.bristolbayboogie.com, print the registration form and mail it to the given address. The registration form is also available at the and other school offices in District 115.

Those who register by Sept. 15 will receive a Boogie T-shirt.
