Baby Shot And Killed By 5-Year-Old Sibling In Indiana: Police

The 5-year-old was able to access a weapon in the home, according to police.

LAFAYETTE, IN — A baby was shot and killed by his 5-year-old sibling in Lafayette, according to police.

Officers received a report of the shooting around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Westchester Lane, police said, adding they arrived to find a 1-year-old boy dead in an apartment. The victim was identified as 16-month-old Isiah Johnson, the Journal & Courier reported.

The child’s sibling was able to access a weapon in the home, according to police.

An adult and two children were in the apartment during the shooting, the newspaper reported, adding the 911 call came from outside the residence.

“This is an active investigation and we do not have any additional information to release at this time,” police said Thursday morning.
