Child Found Dead In Indiana Was Stuffed In Suitcase

A 5-year-old boy whose body was found in Washington County over the weekend had been stuffed into a suitcase.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, IN — A 5-year-old boy whose body was found in southern Indiana over the weekend had been stuffed into a suitcase.

The roller suitcase has a hard shell with a Las Vegas logo printed on the front and back, Indiana State Police confirmed to Patch on Wednesday.

As Patch previously reported, a county resident found the body in a wooded area in eastern Washington County on Saturday. Police have since said the boy was recovered in the 7000 block of East Holder Road, which is northeast of New Pekin.

Indiana State Police are seeking help in identifying the boy, who is Black and around 4 feet tall with a slender build and a short haircut.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday did not confirm a cause of death, but a toxicology report is still pending.

Police have set up a tip line at 888-437-6432 for anyone with information about the boy. Law enforcement has received around 200 calls, though none have led to the identification of the boy. Many calls were related to children already documented as missing.
