Child's Body Found In Southern Indiana: Police

Indiana State Police is requesting help in the death investigation of a Black boy between the ages of 5 and 8, found in Washington County.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, IN — The body of a child was found over the weekend in Washington County, and Indiana State Police are asking for the public's health in the death investigation.

A county resident was searching for mushrooms in a heavily wooded area in eastern Washington County on Saturday when they found the body of a Black boy between the ages of 5 and 8, police said. The resident called the Washington County Sheriff's Office, which has since turned the investigation over to Indiana State Police detectives.

The boy is four feet tall with a slim build and a short haircut, and investigators believe his death occurred within the last week, according to authorities. An exact time and cause of death is pending an autopsy.
