Ministry Announces 1st Safe Haven Baby Box In Hamilton County
Here's where the county's first Safe Haven Baby Box is located.

HAMILTON COUNTY, IN β An Indianapolis-based ministry announced Monday the first Hamilton County Safe Haven Baby Box, installed at Douglas Carmel-Clay Township Fire Station #45. He Knows Your Name (HKYN) Ministry said the box installed by the township will be available to the public beginning Friday, Dec. 28, at the station located at the corner of College and 108th Street, on the fourth anniversary of when the body of a newborn baby, Amelia, was found in the woods in Indianapolis. Her footprint is the center of the ministry's mission (see below).
The Safe Baby Box is a "double down on the Safe Haven Law, which allows people to anonymously surrender their healthy newborn in this way, without fear of criminal prosecution," the ministry said.
He Knows Your Name was started in October 2009 when the body of a newborn baby, dressed only in a diaper, was discovered in downtown Indianapolis

"Sadly it is a fact that, even with the Safe Haven law, babies are still abandoned, buried in nameless graves, with no headstone to mark either their deaths or β more importantly β their lives. He Knows Your Name Ministry strives to ensure that every child receives a name in life and dignity and honor in death," the ministry's Facebook said.
