This month, advocates are turning Capitol Hill purple to bring awareness to the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and ensure that our elected officials keep dementia a priority across the country.
Whether we’re in D.C. or the district, it’s vital that our Members of Congress hear our stories. This disease is personal to me because my mother passed in 2019 of this horrible disease.
From Washington D.C. to at home in my district, I want to make sure our legislators hear our critical requests. At a time when we should be rejoicing over new and promising treatments for Alzheimer’s, I am instead disheartened that Medicare is blocking patient access. A recent CMS policy - that only applies to those with Alzheimer’s disease - denies coverage for these drugs. I’m calling on my Representative Victoria Spartz to individually contact CMS, requesting they change their policy on FDA-approved treatments for Alzheimer’s in support of the millions of families affected by this devastating disease. Every 65 seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and every day, more than 2,000 people progress to a more advanced stage of Alzheimer’s, where they are no longer eligible for treatment.

Representative Spartz please don’t allow your constituents with Alzheimer’s to be treated like this. All those living with Alzheimer’s deserve better and need your support.
