Clarksburg Woman’s Body Recovered In Franklin County
The woman's body was found just less than 24 hours after dispatchers were called.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IN — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating what they said appears to be a drowning death of a Clarksburg woman after her vehicle left the road went into Pipe Creek Monday evening. Officers said Carol Jackson, 63, was recovered by Indiana Conservation Officer safety divers downstream of the vehicle at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, and was pronounced dead by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
Officers said at 6:30 p.m. Monday Franklin County dispatchers received a call from a man reporting that his wife contacted him and that her vehicle was filling with water and being swept away.
Responders from Brookville Fire and Rescue and the Oldenburg Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after and searched until 10 p.m., according to officers.

Stay Safe As County Roads Flood: Indiana State Police
At approximately 9 a.m. today, Indiana Conservation Officers, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, several more local agencies, and volunteers continued the search near the 6100 block of Pipe Creek Road, where a vehicle matching the description was found in the flooded water, according to officials.

Officers said safety divers searched the vehicle, saw it was vacant, and later found the body.
An autopsy is scheduled this week and the death is still currently under investigation, according to officers.
