• Ice skating rink in Gary making spirits bright (chicagocrusader.com) — Gary families now have a new outdoor ice skating rink at the Carter G. Woodson Library parking lot in Miller, offering mostly free or low-cost skating supported by local grants and city partners. Run by the Gary Arts Council, the Winter Works – A Break program adds music, kids’ activities, and wellness events to help residents beat winter isolation and stay connected close to home.

• Amid stadium search, Chicago Bears conduct testing in northwest Indiana (dailyjournal.net) — Gary leaders are actively pitching the Chicago Bears on building a new stadium in the city, highlighting available land near the Hard Rock Casino as the team widens its search beyond Illinois. While recent testing occurred in Hammond’s Wolf Lake area, Indiana lawmakers say northwest Indiana has multiple viable sites, and Mayor Eddie Melton is preparing a formal proposal to attract the franchise.
