$18.00 per hour, part-time, 29 hours per week

Job Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver’s license and have ability to operate city vehicles.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to use a wide variety of hand and small power tools and cleaning instruments.
• Ability to detect maintenance problems and perform necessary repairs.
• Knowledge of standard practices and procedures, materials, and tools used in plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Be able to locate supplies and equipment within the building.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to complete tasks in a neat and professional manner.
• Ability to climb a ladder, ascend and descend stairs.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in abnormal sitting, standing, and kneeling positions.

Job Duties:

• Clean and maintain air conditioning and/or boiler as needed.
• Keep building running and prevent major breakdowns.
• Ability to perform duties inside and outside of building in all kinds of weather.
• Perform minor maintenance on all equipment.
• Shoveling snow from around municipal buildings and salt walkways.
• Make repairs on fixtures and equipment when necessary.
• Perform and document routine inspections and maintenance activities.
• Notify supervisors of deficiencies or needed repairs both verbally and in written form.
• Complete all assigned maintenance and special projects when assigned. Perform other duties as required.
• Work is slight to moderate.

Hiring will be done in accordance with Hammond City Ordinance #8620 as it pertains to the residency requirement.Position to be posted internally from January 12, 2022 thru January 19, 2022. If position is not filled internally, it will be held open for external applications an additional ten (10) days. The position will remain open until filled or no more than 10 working days.
