• Volunteers and donations needed for 37th Spirit of Christmas Giveaway (chicagocrusader.com) — Hobart residents are invited to take part in the 37th annual Spirit of Christmas food and gift giveaway in Gary on Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 1–4 p.m. Central. State Rep. Vernon G. Smith is seeking volunteers, unwrapped gifts, gift cards, and donations to help serve families from Hobart and other nearby communities who may be struggling this holiday season.
