• As data center backlash grows across the country, Change.org sees a surge of related petitions in 2025 (fastcompany.com) — Hobart residents are mounting organized opposition to a newly approved Amazon data center deal, with a Change.org petition, a 4,000-member Facebook group, and a lawsuit filed by local homeowners. Their concerns over water, environment, and neighborhood impacts put Hobart at the center of a growing national backlash against large AI data centers.
   

• City girl's rural sanctuary: Indiana farm a haven for abused and neglected animals (wgntv.com) — A longtime Hobart resident is running a 10-acre farm that’s become a sanctuary for more than 250 rescued animals, including 43 horses and donkeys. With the rental property set to be sold next year, she’s urgently crowdfunding for a new heated barn and learning center so local kids and adults can keep visiting and connecting with the animals year-round.
