Breaking: St. Joseph County Council rejects proposed third data center (southbendtribune.com) — St. Joseph County Council has rejected rezoning for a proposed $12 billion data center, despite strong backing from Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood and other regional leaders who argued it would bring jobs and tax revenue. The overnight vote followed hours of heated testimony about economic benefits, water use, and preserving New Carlisle’s small-town character, and the proposal could potentially return in six months.

Mishawaka Marian football head coach Michael Davidson resigns (southbendtribune.com) — Mishawaka Marian High School’s longtime head football coach Michael Davidson has stepped down after eight seasons to devote more time to his young family, though he’ll stay on as an academic support coach. He reflects on the strain of balancing family and football, the Knights’ recent sectional run, and the memories with players that made his 16 years on the Marian sidelines special.
   

3. Mishawaka Police Department hosts annual ‘Christmas with a Cop' (wndu.com) — Mishawaka police officers spent Wednesday night helping more than 70 local children shop for Christmas gifts during the annual “Christmas with a Cop” event at the Meijer on Grape Road. Supported by Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 91 and Mission Barbeque, the evening included a catered meal and one-on-one shopping time aimed at giving back to Mishawaka families in need.
   

4. Hellenic Senior Living sets timeline for resident return after pipe burst (wndu.com) — Some residents of an Elkhart senior living community were temporarily relocated to a sister facility in Mishawaka after a burst pipe damaged electrical systems and 20 units. Officials now expect about 75 residents to return next Tuesday as power, cleaning, and limited demolition wrap up, with meals delivered to rooms until the dining area reopens.
