TAMA COUNTY, IA — A jailer is set to go to trial later this month after she was accused of having sex with an inmate in 2020 and 2021, according to The Gazette.

Kayla Mae Bergom faces charges of sexual misconduct with an offender, a misdemeanor, after she allegedly had sex with a 29-year-old Tama County inmate in a utility closet and recreation yard, The Gazette reported.

Bergom, 27, of Belle Plaine, has resigned, pleaded not guilty, and will go to trial Aug. 12, according to The Gazette.
