Board and commission members make recommendations to the Ames City Council and offer assistance to the Council in carrying out various forms and functions of city government. There are nearly 20 separate boards and commissions, which focus on distinct issues, programs, or services.
“If you are looking for a way to become more involved in our community, volunteering your time to serve on a City of Ames board or commission is an excellent way to do that,” said Haila. “With busy schedules, it’s not easy to find time to volunteer, so we very much appreciate those residents who are able to make the commitment.”
